As I have gotten older, I have drifted apart from my friends. A lot of it has to do with the fact that my friends are either in a different state or are in college. I have a few close acquaintances where I go to college and where I live, but I would never truly call the friends. I'm very picky when it comes to shit like that. Don't get me wrong, I'm a kind and accepting person, but I need to click with people to consider them friends.
Anyways, I have come to terms with being by myself about 85% of the time. I have no problem with that. I actually prefer to be by myself. It gives me time to think and relax. I go to work and school all day ever day, so when the weekend comes and I have no one to go see a movie with, I go by myself. Besides, there is always that issue of what a group of friends would want to see. One wants to see action, another wants to see comedy, while you are in the mood for horror.
Whenever I go to eat by myself, I always get odd looks. People looking over thinking, "Oh, poor thing. She is eating by herself, how sad." Do NOT pity me, I am enjoying myself. Listening to music or reading a book while drinking coffee in Starbucks or eating at Panera Bread. Don't judge me for being alone. I like it.
"What's wrong with you?" is a question most frequently asked by my friends or people I work with. What I mean, is why I am single and without a lover (haha). WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN BY THAT? Nothing is WRONG with me. I am a beautiful, outgoing and loyal woman!! I just don't have a boyfriend at the moment. I really want to stress this on all females in the world...YOU DON'T NEED A MAN TO MAKE YOU HAPPY!! That's what vibrators are for!! Just kidding, kinda. I'm happy being single. I'm only 19 years old (soon to be 20!!!) and have TONS of time in the world to let my freak flab fly.
So, if you see someone sitting by themselves at a restaurant or movie theater, don't pity them, respect them. They are brave enough to endure a few hours alone. Try it sometime, you might find out who you actually are.
